Singapore pathway guides
Biomedical Science at Singapore polytechnics: entry requirements compared
Compare the subject checks before comparing course names or historical scores. This guide brings four reviewed biomedical science references together and gives families a practical shortlist worksheet.

Start with three separate questions
- Does the student meet the named subject and grade minimums?
- Can the student form the course’s required ELR2B2 aggregate?
- What do past posted scores and the actual course curriculum tell you about the next checks?
The table uses the 2026 O-Level JAE source snapshot. Its historical ranges describe 2025 posting. These are different reference years; neither establishes a 2027 or 2028/2029 admission outcome.
Compare four published course references
NYP’s course is named Biomedical Science with Analytics. NP, RP and SP use Biomedical Science in these references. Similar names do not mean identical modules, specialisations or progression conditions. This is a selected comparison, not a ranking or a complete list of life-science pathways.
| Course and sources | Academic minimums | Aggregate type | Historical score range |
|---|---|---|---|
NYP · Biomedical Science with Analytics (C25) | English: A1–D7 Mathematics / Additional Mathematics: A1–C6 One accepted relevant subject: A1–C6 Accepted relevant subjects
| ELR2B2-C | No verified historical range in this reference. |
NP · Biomedical Science (N59) | English: A1–D7 Mathematics / Additional Mathematics: A1–C6 One accepted relevant subject: A1–C6 Accepted relevant subjects
| ELR2B2-C | 2025 JAE: 4–7 Past posted scores, not an entry minimum or future cut-off. |
RP · Biomedical Science (R14) | English: A1–D7 Mathematics / Additional Mathematics: A1–C6 One accepted relevant subject: A1–C6 Accepted relevant subjects
| ELR2B2-C | 2025 JAE: 8–11 Past posted scores, not an entry minimum or future cut-off. |
SP · Biomedical Science (S98) | English: A1–D7 Mathematics / Additional Mathematics: A1–C6 One accepted relevant subject: A1–C6 Accepted relevant subjects
| ELR2B2-C | 2025 JAE: 3–6 Past posted scores, not an entry minimum or future cut-off. |
Additional course conditions
NYP C25: No additional course condition is recorded in this reviewed summary. Check the full official source and current institution page before applying.
NP N59: No additional course condition is recorded in this reviewed summary. Check the full official source and current institution page before applying.
RP R14: Visual impairment may affect course requirements; mild visual impairment may be assessed individually; contact RP.
SP S98: No additional course condition is recorded in this reviewed summary. Check the full official source and current institution page before applying.
Do I need pure Biology or Additional Mathematics?
In these four 2026 references, the accepted relevant-subject lists include Biology, Chemistry, Physics and the listed Combined Science pairs. Biology is not the sole accepted science. The Mathematics check accepts Mathematics or Additional Mathematics. Open the subject list for the exact course rather than inferring a requirement from “biomedical”.
For example, a fictional student with Mathematics B4 and Combined Science Chem/Physics B3 meets those two published grade checks. English, a valid five-subject aggregate and all remaining conditions still need checking. Passing these checks is not an offer. Read the Combined Science comparison and Additional Mathematics guide.
Use a shortlist worksheet, not just the lowest cut-off
- Record the exact course code and intended intake.
- Check the accepted subject list against each actual examined result.
- Compare lab work, curriculum, specialisation arrangements and travel requirements on each institution’s current course page.
- For a university goal, check that university’s admission requirements separately; a diploma title does not guarantee progression.
- Keep one column for academic checks, one for historical scores and one for unanswered questions.
SP’s current Biomedical Science page provides current programme information and a separately labelled 2026 JAE score range. Do not replace a historical year label with “this year’s cut-off”.
What changes for 2028/2029?
The revised SEC aggregate framework uses a different subject-level combination. Our 2026 academic comparison is not confirmation of future course-specific requirements. Read the 2028/2029 admissions guide, check the intake selected in the free ELR2B2 calculator and recheck official course requirements when published.
Check the source behind a rule
Official links beside each explanation identify the source used. Keep its reference year separate from your intended intake; fictional examples explain a calculation and do not predict an offer. Read how we check sources and handle corrections.
